Covid-19: Kenya confirms five more recoveries as fifteen more test positive

Five hundred and forty five samples were in the last 24 hours tested for Covid-19 and five more Covid-19 patients discharged from isolation raising the number of recoveries to seventy four in the country.

Speaking at Afya House, Chief Administrative Secretary for Health Dr. Mercy Mwangangi announced that 15 more cases have been confirmed since the last update.

“Today our Corona situation is as follows, for the last 24hours we have tested 545 samples of which 15 have tested positive for Corona Virus. This brings the total number to 296 confirmed cases in the country”, said the CAS.

Nine cases were picked by the surveillance team while six were from quarantine facilities. Eleven are Kenyan citizens while four are foreign nationals. Out of the fifteen, there are seven males and eight  females.

Mombasa County has continued to report more cases with seven more  confirmed today. Nairobi has six more cases while Mandera County has 2 more cases. 

Kenyans have been called to take personal responsibility in controlling the spread of the virus. 

Kenya Medical Association (KMA) has initiated a new program dubbed ‘Saa Sita’ that will see Kenyans take time every week to clap in honour of medical workers, mirroring a practice seen in the United Kingdom.

Kenyans will be clapping for the healthcare workers every Wednesday at noon.
